Maria Ward Island Artist
I have been painting the Isle of Wight and its people for the last twenty five years. I work primarily on location for composition as it makes the pictures more dynamic and gives a better sense of place. I have tried to sum up all the activities and places that symbolise the island to me – the landscape, the architecture, the people and all the many events. I try to add a bit of fun and capture the humour of the British seaside holiday. My work is predominantly created with a fine-liner or dip pen and coloured using artists watercolours with a sable brush.
